Njisane Phillip joins The Beacon as a sponsored athlete.

Njisane Phillip is now the proud recipient of Sponsorship from The Beacon Insurance Company. Nineteen-year-old Njisane (a first year Senior) has been a steadily improving cyclist over the years having shown significant promise during his days starting off in the BMX and tiny mites category.

This sponsorship marks the third of its kind for The Beacon. The first cyclist that was signed to the Insurance Giant was Elisha Greene from 2005-2008 and more recently Christopher Sellier who came on-board in 2008.

Philip will receive TT$48,000 per year as well as other performance incentives as he bids to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. Chief Executive of The Beacon Mr. Gerald Hadeed commented that he was pleased to see the development and progress of cycling over the past ten years. “We are also pleased to know that the two riders that we are now sponsoring today have come about because of our leading support of international cycling here in Trinidad and Tobago. The idea was to support an initiative that would bring glory and motivation to Trinidad and Tobago and we believe that these boys will continue to make us proud“. Both Phillip and Sellier were part of the team that recently won both a team and individual medals at the Pan American Championships in Mexico .
